WHAT IS NEWLAND FARM COMPOST?
Newland Farm Compost is a composted blend of leaf and yard and other organic waste turned into a rich, dark soil conditioner that adds vital organic matter and nutrients to regular soil. Newland Farm compost increases biological activity in soil, thereby improving the soils capacity to exchange nutrients and support growth and health.
How should newland farm compost be used?
Lawn Establishment
Using a rototiller or by hand - incorporate about one to two inches of compost to a depth of five inches
Flower Beds
Add about one to two inches of compost to an existing bed and incorporate to a five - inch depth
Tree and Shrub Planting
Rototill an area about three to five times the diameter of the root ball of the tree being planted. Add about thirty percent compost by volume to the area and mix thoroughly outside of the hole with the native soil. Use the ammended soil mixture as backfill around the root ball.
Ornamental Mulching
Apply the compost the same as any mulch, it holds moisture, highlights flowers and you don't need to rake it up.
Top Soil Manufacturing
Blend up to fifty percent compost with loam to make a high-organic soil that can be used for making planting beds.
